The District Project Monitoring Unit (DPMU) plays a vital role in strengthening the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) at the district level. DPMU supports effective planning, monitoring, and implementation of ICDS programmes aimed at improving child nutrition, early childhood care, and women’s health.
One of the key responsibilities of DPMU in ICDS is monitoring Anganwadi Centres. It tracks services such as supplementary nutrition, growth monitoring of children, pre-school education, Take Home Ration (THR) distribution, and services for pregnant and lactating women. Real-time data is collected and analyzed to assess coverage, quality, and gaps in service delivery.
DPMU prepares dashboards and ICDS progress reports that help district administration and the Women & Child Development Department take timely corrective actions. It also ensures coordination between ICDS, Health, and Education departments for integrated service delivery, especially in nutrition, immunization, and early childhood development.
Through training support for Anganwadi workers, data quality assurance, and regular review meetings, DPMU strengthens accountability and performance under ICDS.
