The District Project Monitoring Unit (DPMU) plays a pivotal role in strengthening health services at the district level. Its responsibilities in the health sector include:

  • Programme Monitoring: Tracks key health initiatives such as maternal and child health, immunization, institutional deliveries, anemia control, and other national and state health programmes. Ensures timely implementation and identifies gaps for corrective action.

  • Support to Frontline Workers: Provides training, guidance, and supervision to ASHA, ANM, and other health staff, enhancing their efficiency and service delivery at the community level.

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Gathers real-time health data from facilities and the field, analyzes trends, and generates dashboards and reports to support evidence-based decision-making by district authorities.

  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Works closely with Health, ICDS, and related departments to ensure integrated and seamless delivery of health services across the district.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepares detailed reports on programme implementation, progress, challenges, and outcomes to inform policy and administrative decisions.

  • Community Engagement & Awareness: Supports health awareness campaigns, promotes preventive health measures, and facilitates community participation in government health programmes.
